A prayer for my girl

I pray she’ll have wisdom matched by compassion, grace always paired with truth

Confidence that God made her body good, good, good,

Honesty and persistence in prayer

Joy in small, simple, hidden faithfulness

Clarity, confidence, and humility in her giftings

Discernment to know when to assert her rights as one made in the image of God, and when to lay them aside for the love of her neighbor

Tenacity and tenderness

Capacity for lament and rejoicing

Freedom from shame and fear, and freedom toward abundant life

The ability to hold God-given authority in a way that leads to the flourishing of those around her, not domination

A courageous and unconditional love for God’s people

A spirit that is quick to hear, slow to speak, slow to get angry

Boldness to take every invitation into God’s love and Christ’s endurance

Opportunities to image her Creator as a giver, holder, nurturer of life

A life peacefully rooted in the welcome of Christ, that she might welcome others, to the glory of God

The sensitivity to hear all creation groaning for the restoration of all things, the faith to join in its song, and a transformed heart that holds fast to a deep and abiding hope in the love of Jesus that is holding fast to her.
